Archery Equipment

Honestly, buy what you like and buy your bow according to what you are planning to do with it. Archery has a lot of room for personal freedom, but you still need to buy the right tool for the right job.

You can get:

A longbow - great for target shooting, hunting or distance shooting.

A shortbow - great for target shooting or equestrian archery.

A traditional recurve - great for target shooting or hunting.

An Olympic recurve - great if you want to compete at shooting 70 meters. Not so great at anything else.

A compound bow - great for target shooting, compound competitions and hunting.

A recurve compound bow (which is what I shoot when hunting) - great for target shooting, compound competitions and hunting.

Note #1. If you are planning to hunt with any bow you need a minimum of 40 lbs depending on what you are hunting. 50 lbs if you are hunting larger game. Anything less and you will only injure the animal. You also need heavier arrows and broadheads, which meants you need a longbow, traditional recurve or a compound bow. You cannot hunt with anything less than that.

Note #2. If you sign up for archery lessons with me I will buy you a set of archery equipment (recurve bow + everything else you need, appropriate for your size, eye dominance and strength) so you can learn all the basics of archery through my lessons and be able to practice on your own time.
